Eternity
The most important choice you will ever make is where you will spend eternity. As a Christian, I believe the Bible is true. The way to heaven is clearly explained in the Scriptures.
First of all, we are all sinners.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)The punishment for our sins is death. “For the wages of sin is death…”(Romans 6:23a) This death is not just physical death, but eternal separation from God in hell. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)
Secondly, Jesus came to this earth to die on the cross to pay for our sins.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) Jesus is the only way to heaven! “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
Last of all, salvation is a gift.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Just like any gift, you have to “receive” salvation. In order to be saved, you have to believe that Jesus is God, He died on the cross to pay for your sins, and He rose from the dead on the third day. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) Then you have to call on the Lord’s name and ask Him to save you. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
